inspiredology featured a few office webdesigns which immediately reminded me of two pictures I took during last year’s Schmiede.
Both pictures are under the creative commons, so if anyone wants to use them for a design I’d be happy to hear about.

pp is in the top12

Only place 12 you might think? Well, on the list by mostinspired #12 is the top-spot, so I’m very grateful for this…

I the comments there came a topic up, screenshots. Here at pp I don’t force anyone to upload screenshots. I usually do them myself and even from those that are uploaded I replace many because I think this or that element needs some focus.
Automatic screenshots are no solution for three simple reasons:
  1. They fail on most flash websites
  2. I select what’s important
  3. Most times I have more than only one screenshot.

new front page

Alex complained a bit about what the front page of the new plasticpilots looked liked but I think with the new one it’s much better now.

The right sidebar is a bit broader and moved a bit left to make space for bigger thumbnails. The latest comments were removed for now and there are five posts now.
Any comments on the new look? Alex?

all new and flying

It’s been a month now since Alex and I started talking and since Sunday the new software is online and live. A few things have changed besides that.

The old software, expression engine, was not that flexible like the new one will be. You can expect interesting new features, easier submission, integration of external webservices and other stuff.
There will be a newsletter pretty soon, you can already subscribe to it.

upcoming changes at plasticpilots

It’s been a few months months since Alex wrote about letting go plasticpilots and finally he found someone.

I’m Thomas R. Koll (aka TomK32), living in Berchtesgaden, Germany, just a few kilometers away from Alex’s home. Luckily I was the first asking for taking over pp who was not a nasty SEO, offered a bit more money than those did and has a good plan for the future of plasticpilots.
I guess you want to know a few things about the new owner: I have clearly no talent for webdesign, though my first steps on the internet were on OSWD, but I’m a good developer and love good design. My plans for plasticpilots are giving it a new software next week putting a lot of time into it to get it living again. The new software will be custom but open source and you can find it at GitHub. In a few weeks you will be able to use that software for your own portfolio.
I hope that everyone will enjoy the new plasticpilots and it will become a vivid source for inspiration again like it was earlier. If you have ideas, suggestion etc for plasticpilots, please let me know and send a mail to tomk32@gmx.de
